Wedding Planner Blog -My Ideal Wedding

Getting married is one of the most important days of our lives.  Some people tend to have a budget wedding to save their money for some practical reasons.  What is important to know is that a budget wedding does not mean a cheap wedding. It all depends on how smart you are in planning your budget wedding.

A good start is to use My Ideal Wedding’s ‘Budget Calculator’. This will allow you to quickly allocate costs and ensure you cover all expenses. You can then keep track of overall costs, what has been spent and what is still to be spent.

There are many ways that you can cut costs when planning your wedding expenditures.  However, there are some aspects we suggest you don’t sacrifice on your big day.

Wedding Photography and/or Videography

A professional wedding photographer is expensive. You might think that you can just ask a friend or relative to take your wedding pictures. It can lead to disaster.  Wedding pictures and videos are the only things that you can see or view to re-live your wedding moments.  If you really need to cut your budget, try asking around some photography clubs or perhaps universities.  Some members of photography clubs and university students will be happy to provide this service at a reduced cost. One good practice is to pay them first to do your pre-wedding picture or video.  If you are satisfied with the results, you can arrange for them to take your wedding photos or video.

Wedding venue

If you think that you can save money by having your wedding in your house make sure that your house is conformable enough to cater for all your guests. Be careful because many people who cater for their own wedding at home end up spending close to what it would have cost at a reception centre.  A better way to save costs on the wedding venue may be to look at ‘off peak’ periods and weekdays when the costs are reduced.

Flowers.

Have you investigated the cost of wedding flowers?  You may get a shock when you realise what wedding flowers cost.  Some florists may appear to be cheap but ,when it comes to the day, the flowers supplied are not of the same quality as those you have been shown in sample arrangements. We recommend that you speak with people who have used your florist for their wedding.

There are many ways in which you can reduce your costs but these are three that we believe you need to be very careful with as they can have a big impact on your special day.
