Wedding Planner Blog -My Ideal Wedding

Now is a great time to start planning your dream Autumn wedding. Autumn is a stunning (but often overlooked) season for a wedding – from the glorious golden leaves to the last lingering late summer sunshine, it’s a truly magical time of year to tie the knot.

Here are our top Autumn wedding ideas to help you get it just right!

Location, location, location!

There are so many gorgeous areas to get married. To get the most out of an Autumn wedding, you’ll want to choose a venue that has some autumnal leaves on display. Australia is blessed with beautiful parks which are popular spots for weddings. Many have beautiful plane trees with leaves that turn in early May. Another venue that will really capture that Autumn splendor is a fruit orchard or a vineyard – grape vine leaves turn the most beautiful shades of amber and crimson as the weather gets cooler. Barn weddings are also perfect for an Autumn theme – think harvest, warmth, rustic comfort and simple pleasures.

Choose an autumnal colour palette

Take inspiration from nature and go with fiery red, copper, pumpkin, tangerine, brown, yellow, gold, and a dash of green. These colours look amazing against white table cloths, and the white bridal dress will look stunning in photos against a backdrop of russet leaves. For on-trend bridesmaid dresses, try the Pantone “Colour of the Year 2015” – Marsala, a striking earthy wine red. Keep jewellery gold or rose gold – silver has blue undertones and is better suited to a cool colour palette.

Autumn wedding flowers

Keeping in mind your colour palette, look for flowers that are in season over your wedding date. Great choices for the bridal bouquet include red or orange roses, tiger lilies, orchids, sunflowers and yellow gerbera daisies. For the table, create arrangements of brightly coloured Autumn leaves, miniature pumpkins and berries. For maximum impact, hire a few wine barrels and top them off with large flower arrangements to create a rustic harvest “Autumn cellar” theme.

Flavours of Autumn

Impress your guests with a special autumnal menu – think seasonal treats like spiced pumpkin soup, baked salmon with chestnuts and pomegranate, pulled pork and pheasant with quince jelly. For dessert, think comfort food – chilli chocolate mousse, miniature fried apple pie pockets and hazelnut hot chocolate would all be perfect. In keeping with the theme, set up a barrel bar decorated with crimson leaves and a selection of wines, cheeses and crackers.

Make the most of your Autumn wedding!
